June Shelton School & Evaluation Center enjoys the distinction of being the worlds largest independent school for bright children with learning differences. Founded in 1976, Shelton is dedicated to making a difference by serving and empowering the lives of students who learn differently. While the school is clearly the centerpiece of its mission, Shelton is more than a school. It encompasses three other major components, all open to the communitya speech and language therapy program, an evaluation center, and a teacher-training program.  Shelton is actively involved with research and collaborates with major medical institutions in the Dallas area, including Childrens Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Shelton School is a co-educational, non-sectarian school that serves approximately 900 students with learning differences in grades EC to 12. The Shelton School is accredited by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS).

Purpose: The Instructional Technology Coordinator empowers teachers to meaningfully integrate digital tools into their instruction to enhance student engagement, personalize learning, and improve academic outcomes. This role involves close collaboration with teachers, staff, and administrators to support effective technology use across teaching, learning, and school operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of macOS, iOS, and iPadOS.
  • Familiarity with classroom teaching tools such as SmartBoards.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills; proactive and self-directed.
  • Passion for innovation, creativity, and using technology to inspire learning.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across departments.
Preferred:
  • Apple Teacher Certification.
  • Apple Learning Coach or Apple Distinguished Educator, or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Google Certified Educator.
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws and principles of digital citizenship.
  • Experience teaching in a classroom or working on curriculum development, preferably at the middle or high school level.
Essential Functions:

General Responsibilities:

  • Consistent, reliable attendance is essential due to frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
  • Provide just-in-time technical support and troubleshooting assistance to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Teach one or more classes, as needed by the school.

Instructional Support:

  • Partner with teachers to plan, model, and co-teach technology-integrated lessons across subject areas and grade levels.
  • Provide leadership to Associate Heads and Curriculum Coordinators in developing a curriculum that includes digital citizenship, computational thinking, creativity and innovation, and data literacy.
  • Offer expert guidance on accessibility features built into Apple devices to support diverse learners.
  • Recommend educational software, apps, and hardware aligned with instructional goals.
  • Support the integration of Apple’s Everyone Can Create and Everyone Can Code curricula.
  • Provide ongoing training on platforms such as Google Workspace for Education, FACTS SIS, and other key tools.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the impact of technology initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Stay current on trends and research in instructional technology, and share insights and resources with faculty and staff.

Hardware / Software Support:

  • Provide on-demand support for hardware and software used by Shelton staff and students.
  • Set up, configure, and break down technology equipment as needed.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions for educational platforms and software.

School-Wide Support:

  • Design and deliver professional development workshops, webinars, and one-on-one coaching sessions for faculty and staff.
  • Create and maintain instructional resources such as how-to guides, video tutorials, and support documentation.
  • Collaborate with various departments to streamline processes for school-wide events and initiatives.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology or Head of School.
